The Night Bizarre

An immersive performance event designed and created by 35 undergraduate students across multiple disciplines. This large-scale, outdoor event incorporated live, virtual, and pre-recorded elements in the Spring of 2021. Concept and direction by Julie Granata-Hunicutt.


My Name Is Rachel Corrie

A sonic re-imagining of the one-woman play created from the writings of Rachel Corrie. This adaptation was conceived & created during in 2020, as a thesis project for MFA candidate Ranae Haskins. Sound design by Oddy Litlabo. Concept and direction by Julie Granata-Hunicutt.


Rosalind, or As You Like It

A devised theatre production exploring the themes, characters and relationships in Shakespeare’s As You Like It. Re-imagined through the lens of its female characters, this MFA thesis was a radical de/reconstruction of the story, using Shakespeare’s original text. Concept and direction by Julie Granata-Hunicutt.


Thing With Feathers

Ruby, Jade, and Cove fall in and out of love with each other as their world crumbles. As society disintegrates in the face of climate catastrophe, these three queer women find new ways to build their lives. Part myth, part apocalyptic fairy tale, part love story, thing with feathers is about survival, transformation, and hope”.

Sam Collier’s play was 2015 O'Neill National Playwrights Conference Semifinalist, and was directed by Julie Granata-Hunicutt at the 2019 Women’s Theatre Festival in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Aquí y Allá

Part of California Repertory’s Devising Democracy series: a four-year-long commitment to developing and producing devised work that grapples with the political, social and economic issues of our time.  CSULB Theatre Arts students in partnership with The California-Mexico Studies Center (a 501(c)(3) non-profit) explore the struggles and stories of 800,000 Dreamers whose way of life has been threatened by the cancellation of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

Alice’s Wonderland

A reimagining of Lewis Carroll’s classic story, this whimsical physical theatre tumbles down into the curious universe of Alice’s imagination. Six performers transform into everything from tiny keyholes to giant caterpillars, bringing to life the mad characters and fantastical places along Alice’s path of self-discovery. A high-energy adventure filled with dynamic movement and acrobatics, Alice’s Wonderland is a love letter to dreamers and storytellers everywhere. She Kills Monsters

A ”spirited play about finding your real and metaphorical families, as well as yourself, through Dungeons & Dragons” wrote Elisabeth Vincentelli for the New York Times when describing Qui Nguyen’s funny & tragic play. This California Rep / Cal State University Theatre Arts Department production used light, dance and martial arts to depict the epic battles of one journey into adulthood, and the encounters with demons and angels faced along the way.
